Arsenal fullback Bellerin pleads for fans unity as Xhaka returns

Arsenal fullback Hector Bellerin has pleaded for unity from fans with Granit Xhaka in line for a recall against Southampton.

The Swiss international has not played for the Gunners since he reacted angrily to being subbed off during his side's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace. His actions led to the captaincy being stripped from him.

"I think it's important as a club, as fans, as everything [to know that] being divided is never the way forward," said Bellerin in a message on Arsenal's social media.

"Everyone demands different things, everyone demands different changes, but I don't think that's the way. I think the [right] way is accepting who we are, what we have, getting everyone together, supporting each other, and that is the way that we can reach our goals.

"When things don't go well, that is the time for us to tap each other on the back and be like: 'Come on, we need to do this better but we're going to come back on top'.

"That is what we need, not to start pointing fingers and blaming someone for doing this, for doing that… we're a club, we're a team, we're a family. What we need is to be there for each other."
