Arsenal face competition if they're to press on with plans to sign FC Koln striker Anthony Modeste.

BILD says the Gunners have made contact with Koln to register their interest in Modeste.

Arsenal have asked Koln about the 27 year-old's availability and a price ahead of the January market. However, they're not alone.

Walter Zenga's Sampdoria is also in contact with Koln for Modeste.

The Frenchman had a six-month loan spell in the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers.
