Arsenal are closing in on Southampton fullback Luke Shaw.

The Daily Echo says the Gunners have been monitoring Southampton's Luke Shaw for a while now following his impressive performances in the Barclays Premier League.

Though Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Shaw, Southampton have a policy on not handing out lucrative contracts to players under the age of 18 which could pave the way for suitors to launch bids.

Moreover, the Saints haven't discussed a new contract even though Shaw is currently contracted until 2015.
