Arsenal and Chelsea face competition from Galatasaray for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
The Daily Star says Arsenal failed to agree terms with Madrid over the transfer of the big forward to the Emirates in the summer.
However the Gunners and Chelsea are both still interested in bringing the 25-year-old to the Premier League and any move from Galatasaray will be dependant on the sale of current striker Burak Yilmaz.
Yilmaz, who netted 32 goals in 39 appearances last season, is a target of Blues boss Jose Mourinho with a potential swap deal with Demba Ba in the offing.
