Arsenal are challenging Liverpool for Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

Illarramendi is expected to leave Real at the end of the season after a difficult two years with the European champs.

Liverpool have already made contact with the midfielder's camp to register their interest.

However, AS says Arsenal have also make tentative enquiries regarding Illarramendi's situation.

For his part, the 25 year-old has decided it's time to move on.
