Arsenal captain Cesc tells Barcelona fans: I hope to see you more often and closer

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has told Barcelona fans he hopes "to see you more often and closer".

Fabregas received warm applause in the Placa de l'Esglesia Arenys de Mar as the local mayor led a tribute to the Arsenal captain for his part in Spain's 2010 World Cup triumph, reports the Daily Mail.

A city policeman remarked that in his 20-year career "I have never seen the place so full."

Of his pass to Andres Iniesta for Spain's winning goal against Holland he said: "It was a very special moment... the most incredible moment of my career which will stay with me for life. I felt an internal explosion of joy."

As he thanked the crowd Fabregas said: "I hope to see you more often and closer."
