Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger sent James DeGale a letter of support and encouragement ahead of his world title fight this weekend.
London-born boxer DeGale, who is an avid Arsenal fan, will strive to become the first British Olympic gold medalist to win a world boxing title when he takes on American Andre Dirrellf or the IBF super-middleweight belt in Boston on Saturday.
The letter from Wenger read: 'Your hard work, great spirit and determination has you in good stead and you must never underestimate or lose sight of your achievements so far.
'You have a great opportunity to make history and everyone at the club are very proud of you.'
DeGale was clearly chuffed with the letter: "I'm honoured that the manager has written to me. He's a great man for whom I have much respect.
"As well as bringing the belt home to the Emirates, I would love to take it to Wembley and wave to all my fellow Arsenal fans."
