Sol Campbell is edging closer to a shock Arsenal return.

The Daily Express says Campbell is in line to make a sensational return to Arsenal if manager Arsene Wenger can find a January buyer for Philippe Senderos.

Campbell has been training with the Gunners since walking out on Notts County at the end of September.

And while another Arsenal old boy, Patrick Vieira, is set to return to the Premier League with Manchester City, Wenger has been so impressed by Campbell that he will sign the 35-year-old on a short-term deal until the end of the season if out-of-favour Senderos leaves this month.
