Arsenal boss Wenger pleads with Cesc to stay

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is pleading with skipper Cesc Fabregas to stay with the club for at least two more years. The Mirror says Wenger has begged Cesc Fabregas to give him two more years at Arsenal.

Fabregas, 22, is in turmoil about his future as he fears Barcelona may not come back again if he turns them down for a THIRD time this summer.

Gunners captain Fabregas insists that he would like nothing more than to stay at Arsenal, lead them to a new era of success and start lifting trophies.

But it all comes down to whether Fabregas can be convinced that Arsenal will be in the hunt for major trophies next season. He has made no secret of the fact that one day he would like to return to his boyhood heroes, the club he left at 16 to join Arsenal.

Frenchman Wenger still firmly believes in his young side and wants to keep Fabregas as his leader, captain and star player.

Even though Fabregas has a lengthy contract, Wenger has never been a manager who tries to stop players leaving if they want to go and also believes it is nigh on impossible to keep an unhappy player.

But Wenger is trying to convince Fabregas to stay for another two years, see his team reach maturity and enjoy a new era of success. Then Wenger believes Fabregas may want to stay even longer.
