Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger plans to offload Per Mertesacker in the summer.
The Daily Star Sunday says Wenger is ready to ditch the German and give his place to Gabriel Paulista alongside Laurent Koscielny at the heart of the Gunners backline.
If Brazilian Paulista impresses in the coming weeks, Mertesacker, 30, will be shown the door.
The German has struggled for consistency this season.
