Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger won't rush to replace imminent Manchester City signing Kolo Toure.
The Daily Express says Brede Hangeland has been on Wenger's radar for some time, but Fulham's £15m asking price has, so far, put him off making a move.
And sources close to the club claim Wenger sees his first-choice central defensive pair as £11m summer signing Thomas Vermaelen and William Gallas, with Johan Djourou, Mikael Silvestre and Alex Song all in reserve.
Philippe Senderos, linked with several clubs this summer, is still expected to leave Arsenal, along with Emmanuel Eboue, who is wanted by Fiorentina.
