Arsene Wenger says his Arsenal side will fight tooth and nail to edge North London rivals Tottenham out of a Champions League spot.
The Gunners sit fifth on the table, four points in arrears of Spurs, but Wenger says the battle for a top-four finish is well and truly on.
"There are many games to go," he told the club's official website. "We are in the fight and the game on Saturday showed that we are ready for a fight."
In regard to the 1-0 win at Sunderland, which came with ten men for the final half-hour, Wenger added: "Our character was questioned many times. You saw that we have plenty.
"I liked the last 20 minutes when we were pushed back. We headed every single ball. We tried like mad and that's fantastic to see.
"Sometimes you just have to dig in and some players played in uncomfortable positions. When we have the desire to win, it helps a lot."
