Arsene Wenger insists that as a football manager he is happy to help players achieve their goals in life.

The Frenchman was responding to questions about those who, under his guidance at the Club, had not made it into the Arsenal first-team.

Players like Steve Sidwell, James Harper, David Bentley and Jermaine Pennant have all gone on to play regularly for other Premier League clubs.

Wenger thinks that the competition for places in the Arsenal side allows other teams to snap up the Club's surplus talent and build a successful team.

"A route to success is to move around Arsenal and pick the players who don't make it completely," said Wenger. "Then I promise you that you will have a very good team.

"We have very good players who do not all make it but when they drop out you will have a good team.

"At the end of the day I am happy if they have a good life. Their dream, like Sidwell, is to be a professional football player in a top team. If we helped contribute to that in some way then we are happy. As a manager you want to have a positive influence on the life of your football players," he told the club's official web site.
