Arsenal boss Wenger admits no progress over Oxlade-Chamberlain deal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists they're not close to sealing a deal for Southampton teen Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Southampton, who sold a young Theo Walcott to Arsenal, were thought to be willing to discuss a deal of around £10m.

But after seeing his side beat Ipswich 3-1 on aggregate to reach the Carling Cup final, Wenger insisted Arsenal were not close to concluding a deal for Oxlade-Chamberlain or any other of their transfer targets.

"There is no news, and I would be surprised if there will be any," the Arsenal manager said.
