Arsenal boss Wenger accuses Man Utd of 'professional' fouls

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has accused Manchester United of playing a dispirited brand of football, saying some players were only playing to make fouls.

The Gunners gave up a one goal lead to eventually go down 2-1 after United scored a penalty and an own goal in the second half.

It was clear the Wenger was frustrated with the way Sir Alex Ferguson's men carried themselves in the contest.

"I have seen today players who play only to make fouls but who were never punished," said Wenger.

"Players who make repeated fouls are never punished and get out of the game without a yellow card.

"I think that is more anti-football than a player who did what Eduardo did (against Celtic in Europe). Look at how many deliberate fouls some players make and get away with it.

"I think it's a bigger problem because it cuts the flow of the game. And people come and pay to see football, not free-kicks.

"You should certainly ask the officials to watch the video again and they will see the conclusions.

"The borderline between being sensible, being shrewd or being a cheat is sometimes very slim so in some cases to assess which is very difficult."
