Arsenal boss Emery: Martinelli not a striker

Arsenal boss Unai Emery does not see Gabriel Martinelli as a striker despite his two goal performance against Standard Liege on Thursday.

Playing as the Gunners' leading man, Martinelli took his season tally to four from two starts in the resounding 4-0 victory.

But Emery does not think the Brazilian will continue to play as a number nine.

He said: "He prefers to play as a left winger - he also played as a right winger. I am using him as a striker because he played in that position in Brazil.

"Striker is not the best position for him. But the first thing in his mind is to help us.

"Tonight his performance and his aptitude was amazing."
