Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The German centre-back sustained ankle ligament damage against Sunderland on February 11 which required surgery later that month and manager Arsene Wenger suggests he will not play again this campaign.
"Basically there are only six weeks to go so I don't think he'll be sharp enough to come back and play. He would need to train and get back to full fitness.""I believe Per will be out for the rest of the season," he told the club's official website.
