Arsenal and West Ham United are urging Hibs to drop their price for Josh Doig.
The London Evening Standard says the two London rivals are among a number of clubs tracking Doig but they are not willing to meet Hibernian's asking price of up to £5million plus add-ons.
Watford are the only club to have entered into serious talks over a deal for the 19-year-old but their interest has cooled since signing Danny Rose on a free transfer.
West Ham boss David Moyes is keen to add depth to his squad at left-back, while Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is seeking more cover for Kieran Tierney after signing Nuno Tavares.
Both clubs, however, want Hibs to drop their asking price to around £2.5m if they are to follow up on their interest.
