Arsenal are lining up a summer bid for Fiorentina wing-back Felipe Melo.

Boss Arsene Wenger wants the 25-year-old Fiorentina ace to strengthen a midfield that has struggled since allowing fans' favourite Gilberto Silva, Mathieu Flamini and Lassana Diarra to leave the club.

The Gunners face competition from Chelsea and Aston Villa for Melo, who has a buy-out clause of over £17million at Fiorentina.
