Philadelphia Union have waived defender Christian Arrieta after just one season with the club.

The 31-year old US-born Puerto Rican signed with the Union in April, joining from USSF Division 2 club Puerto Rico Islanders, and made 16 league appearances for the freshman club.

But the Union have decided to release Arrieta who previously spent close to a decade in Italy, playing with the likes of Mestre, Genoa and Lecce.
