With the Los Angeles Galaxy losing at home to Real Salt Lake this weekend, the team saw an end to a ten-match unbeaten run.
Head coach Bruce Arena was quick to dispel that his team's loss was down to missing captain Landon Donovan to international duty.
"I have a hard time believing the reason for tonight's performance was lack of leadership," Arena said after the game.
"We played last Saturday (and won without Donovan) in Toronto, and certainly nobody was questioning our leadership then. ... I just think, in all fairness, the better team won."
