Nicolas Anelka is on the brink of signing a new deal with Chelsea.

The Daily Mail says Anelka is set to sign a two-year contract extension that will tie him to Chelsea until 2013. An announcement is expected after their final day clash with Wigan Athletic.

The France striker's future at Stamford Bridge had been thrown into doubt when negotiations were put on hold earlier this year amid Chelsea's desire to reduce their wage bill.

The 31-year-old had reportedly been seeking a £40,000 hike on the £80,000-a-week deal he signed when joining from Bolton in 2008.
