Andrea Merenda is putting pen to paper on a short-term deal with Central Coast Mariners today. The former Inter Milan and Lecco defender is hoping to turn the six-match contract into a long-term agreement.

He told tribalfootball.com: "At the moment I am just looking forward to showing everyone how big an asset I can be for the team in my initial six match stay.

"Before the initial contract expires I will speak with the club about the long-term plans."
