Jozy Altidore hopes he is allowed to establish himself at Villarreal next season.

The former New York Red Bulls striker was unveiled by Villarreal at a signing ceremony yesterday and was asked about the prospect of spending his first campaign in Spain away on-loan.

USA international Altidore said: "I would love to stay and play in this great team. But if the club want me to leave on-loan to adapt to the football here, this is something I'll also accept without problems."

He continued: "This is something very exciting.

"I'm very happy and very happy for everything that has happened to me in recent days. For me to move into Spanish football is something very exciting. I have come to learn, to enjoy and live a great experience."
