Alnwick injury may force Newcastle into market for new keeper

Newcastle United may be forced to sign a new goalkeeper.

The Sunday Sun says Toon may have to reconsider bringing in another goalkeeper this summer after Alnwick was injured at Gateshead.

The Magpies were looking to go into the new season with Tim Krul, Rob Elliot and Alnwick as their three main shotstoppers. However, Alnwick left the International Stadium on crutches after Newcastle's 2-1 win against the Tynesiders.

A 50-50 challenge resulted in the Academy product being taken off.

United have been linked with PSV Eindhoven stopper Jeroen Zoet this summer.
