Almeria release statement after relegation was confirmed

Almeria have released a statement after their relegation was confirmed.

Defeat to Getafe sees Almeria relegated after coming up from the Segunda last season.

The club stated: "UD Almería wants to publicly regret not having been able to remain in LaLiga EA Sports and at the same time apologize to its subscribers, fans and sympathizers, in general, for losing a privileged place in the highest category of Spanish football. Once the relegation to the Second Division has been consummated, it is time to assume full responsibility for the failure that the season has entailed, but it is also the starting point to start a new project with the sole objective of fighting again to recover our place in the elite, and we are going to do it by learning from mistakes and having the utmost enthusiasm to continue being an ambitious entity in all aspects.

"This setback, this disappointment, this frustration that we all have now, is not going to sink us; On the contrary, it will help us work even harder with the firm and sole purpose of compensating our social mass for everything they have suffered throughout the 2023-2024 campaign.

"Our fans have given a lesson in unconditional support, respect, sportsmanship and love to the red and white colors of our UD Almería.

"It is clear that we have failed, and we accept it, recognizing that the season has been most negative, disastrous. There is no need to hide, far from it, or make excuses, but after deep reflection we think that our squad is not, at all, the worst in the category... not even the worst.

"It was made for other purposes. Rival coaches and players have not understood how Almería could be last in the standings. Us neither. We have tried everything, although without success; It's clear. We believe that everything that can go against a club over several years has come together in just one, without us wanting to avoid responsibilities.

"Since we arrived at UD Almería in August 2019, we have set ourselves numerous and ambitious medium and long-term objectives. Most of them are underway, they are a reality; others are about to emerge. In this exercise that is about to end, we have stumbled seriously, but we are going to get back up; in fact, we are already doing it. Nobody is going to get off this UD Almería ship, which we are now heading towards the First Division. The journey is going to be complicated, we have been through it and we know it, but all together we have experienced great moments in these years, which we want to repeat with you."
