Allen hoping to secure Liverpool spot under Klopp

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen is determined to stake his claim for a spot in the Reds' starting XI under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 25-year-old has only been used sparingly by Klopp since the German took over from Brendan Rodgers, but Allen is hopeful he will see more regular first team action in the coming weeks.

'When a manager leaves a club everything is up in the air for the players. You have to wait to see who comes in next, what sort of style he plays and if there's a place for you in his plans,' he told the Liverpool Echo.

'It's almost like the reset button has been pressed for everyone at the club and we've got a clean slate to re-focus and try to impress him so we can be part of his plans. 'Everyone has been impressed with the new manager's ideas and approach. His passion is very obvious and that is something we as players as going to feed off.
