AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri was left disappointed despite their 4-1 rout of Parma.
Antonio Nocerino was the unexpected hat-trick hero as Milan notched up a third consecutive Serie A victory against Parma.
"We had a decent game, but could've done better in certain moments," moaned Allegri.
"It was important to win and give a sense of consistency to our recent results, especially as the table is beginning to stretch out and so it was crucial to stay close to the top.
"When you play every three days it is natural to feel a little tired. We were sluggish in the first half, then picked up after breaking the deadlock.
"When the lads play the way they know how, it's difficult not to create scoring opportunities. However, we still allow our opponents too many shots from distance."
