Allegri admits AC Milan clearout has "lowered our talent level"

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri concedes his squad isn't good enough to compete for trophies this season. Allegri has seen his squad decimated this summer, particularly with the departures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to PSG.

He told Chi: "The departure of the big players has lowered the level of our talent, but we have to be good at putting on a show and bringing people to the stadium. For us it will be the year zero, but I do not look back.

"Little money? In Italy we have to roll up our sleeves."

On the average age of the team, he added: "It has been lowered considerably. Let's see what happens. It was unthinkable that the economic crisis would not touch football, but let's not forget, however, we're privileged. Today, the club of Arab sheiks buy all the big players. For us, however there are no more big squads and also the sponsors invest less."

Asked about Antonio Cassano, Allegri concluded: "I do not care about him."
