Sam Allardyce insists he was happy to part ways with West Ham United yesterday.

The announcement was made on the club's website almost immediately after the defeat to Newcastle United.

Asked if it was a mutual decision, Allardyce said: "No, I didn't want to stay," before adding: "I suppose you can say it's mutual, if they say they didn't want to give me a contract anyway.

"But it's done and dusted now."
