Allardyce eyeing top-8 finish with West Ham

Sam Allardyce is targeting the top eight with West Ham United this season.

The Hammers have fallen slightly off the pace in recent times having not saluted in the Premier League since beating Hull City on January 18.

A run of six matches without a win has since the east London club fall to 10th on the table but Allardyce feels their mini training break in the warm weather of Dubai will help kick things back into gear at Upton Park.

"Eighth for us is achievable. We should already be there. We should have achieved a lot more points, but we haven't. That shows you the frailties of the squad," he said on Sport 360.

"Our performances have been excellent but our victories have turned into draws and this had made us slip down the league a little bit. For now it's about the last ten games, securing as many points as possible and trying to hit the target of eighth in the league.

"Everything has been as perfect as always [in Dubai]. We have been doing this trip for many years and every time we get back to England we always see an increase in the physical output of the players.

"Everybody enjoys training in this climate rather than the cold weather back in England. Hopefully it has served its purpose again and we will have some very good results when we return to England."
