All square between Hibs and Hearts in Edinburgh derby

Hibernian have been held to a 2-2 draw because of a late Heart of Midlothian goal in yesterday's Edinburgh derby at Easter Road.

Hibs had not saluted in the past seven of these fixtures and things looked good when Ricardo Vaz Te had put them 2-1 ahead in the 80th minute after earlier goals from Hearts' Ryan Stevenson and Liam Miller from the penalty spot for the home side.

But Hearts maintained their unbeaten run against their derby rivals thanks to an 83rd leveler from Stephen Elliott which put them 10 points clear in third but six points behind second-placed Rangers.

What's more is that Jim Jefferies' side had to deal with having ten men from the 33rd minute when Marius Zaliukas was shown a straight red for a challenge on Akpo Sodje in the area, which brought about the penalty that Miller converted.

For Hibs, it was their seventh match undefeated in the league but despite that they stay ninth ahead of Wednesday's trip to league leaders Celtic.

Hearts will have to wait until next Saturday for their next match which is against Motherwell at home.
