Alexi Lalas is backing Manchester City's entry into MLS to be a success.
The former LA Galaxy chief is convinced City's partnership with the New York Yankees is a surefire winner.
"The association with the Yankees takes it to another level because of what their name and brand entails," Lalas, the man responsible for bringing David Beckham to the LA Galaxy in 2007, told the Sunday Express. "It's wonderful news for Major League Soccer.
"I think it's going to be successful for the team and all in all it's a positive move with a few caveats.
"There has not been a New York city team (the New York Red Bulls play their matches in New Jersey) before, though, so having an expansion franchise here is huge for the league."
