Liverpool legend John Aldridge feels their young players will benefit from the U21 Euros.
Fabio Borini and Italy are through to the semi-finals of the tournament after wins against England and Israel.
England - whose squad includes Andre Wisdom, Jordan Henderson, Jack Robinson and Jonjo Shelvey - haven't done so well, guaranteeing a group stage exit after this weekend's loss to Norway.
"It's great for the lads to be involved in an international tournament," Aldridge told The Kop Magazine.
"They can only learn from the experience this summer. I went to a World Cup when I was 35 or 36 and I was still learning then.
"As far as I'm concerned the more they play the better."
