Royal Antwerp defender Toby Alderweireld has explained his row with Belgium teammate Kevin de Bruyne during the World Cup.
The Manchester City star was seen telling Alderweireld to "shut-up" during the win against Canada.
Alderweireld has now expanded on the row back in Antwerp, stating: “I understand that Kevin said that, because I had also just shouted something.
"This happened in the heat of battle. We had just been under pressure for 35 minutes, which released a stress hormone in everyone. Then it can turn out like this.
“That exchange of words showed that we are working on it. If we didn't care, we would have let it all pass. In the dressing room, hand on my heart, everything was quickly discussed.
“That's football, pure emotions. We are not here as choirboys. We are here as men. Kevin had a thing and I didn't agree. Those are some emotions. I'm not commenting on the details. That all goes very quickly. But the knobs turned very quickly and it was settled between Kevin and me. We are more than okay together."
