Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has revealed that defender Toby Alderweireld could be in contention for his side's clash with Tottenham this weekend.
There were worrying signs regarding the health of Alderweireld after he was stretchered off during Southampton's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Stoke City last week and it was feared that the defender had potentially suffered a season-ending injury.
However, Alderweireld's injury did not turn out to be as bad as initially expected and manager Koeman has suggested that the Belgium international is a chance of being passed fit for the visit of Spurs on Saturday.
Koeman said: "Toby Alderweireld did his first training session today and if there was not any reaction he will be fit for Saturday."
