Al Ittihad coach Nuno insists the Saudi Pro League has the potential to match Europe's best competitions.

The former Wolves and Tottenham manager has his team currently top of the table.

Nuno said, "I think it is important that top players arrive in Saudi Arabia. It is always useful. We know that it is a government project to make the championship as competitive as possible.

"Bringing quality players is always positive.

"I think it's a good project, to make the league stronger and more competitive, but I think there's still a long way to go, it's a long way. That requires a lot of hard work from everyone, changes are needed.

"We must have the intention to change some things. This league can become as competitive as the European ones. I'm also here to help as much as I can, try to develop players and help the club I coach. I hope that the Saudi league will be as good in the future like European ones."
