Goal-line technology was given the go-ahead when the International Football Association Board (IFAB) voted on Thursday in Zurich over whether to use it, reports BBC Sport. As expected Fifa announce goal-line technology will be used at the Club World Cup in Japan in December.
If the technology proves successful then it will be used during the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup.
Two systems, Hawk-Eye and GoalRef, have been approved by the IFAB after passing a series of scientific tests, and could be introduced into the Premier League as soon as the new year.
