The agent of Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has confirmed an approach from Napoli.
Rossi is considering a return to Italy this summer.
"We know that President Aurelio De Laurentiis has approached Villarreal to enquire after Rossi, but we are talking about seven or eight months ago," explained Andrea Pastorello on calciomercato.it.
"At the moment there is nothing concrete to discuss. Last season Juventus came looking for him, offering the club an exchange with David Trezeguet, but Villarreal's salary cap saw the deal collapse.
"Napoli's interest is gratifying. They are one of the biggest clubs in Italy, not to mention one of the few who spend big money on the transfer market.
"Giuseppe is very happy at Villarreal and this is the side that launched him at the highest level, but that doesn't exclude the fact he'll consider other options if something good comes along."
