Bolton's interest in Djibril Cisse has been confirmed by the Liverpool striker's agent Ranko Stojic.

Stojic has revealed that he has been in contact with Sammy Lee amidst growing rumours that Trotters boss has his eye on the French hitman.

"It is true that there has been some contact with Bolton," Stojic told the Manchester Evening News. "I have met up with Sammy Lee on one occasion. He impressed me, not just as a coach, but as a person.

"He is a fantastic man. We are meeting Liverpool next week to find out what they want to do."

Marseille chairman Pape Diouf is unperturbed by the rumours and is optimistic that he can secure Cisse's signature in the near future.

"About Djibril Cisse, the negotiations should be finished early next week," Diouf said in L'Equipe.

"We would prefer a loan but Liverpool want a definitive transfer.

"We are in talks about a transfer fee inferior to Euro12million (£8m). I have a lot of hope."
