Arsenal are not holding talks with Fiorentina over the Italy international Riccardo Montolivo, his agent has confirmed. The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old midfielder as a possible replacement for Cesc Fabregas, who is wanted by Barcelona.
Giovanni Branchini believes there are a number of clubs watching his client and is not surprised Arsenal are interested.
"It's not ridiculous that Arsenal are looking at Montolivo," he told Violanews.com.
"In fact there is very strong interest from clubs more famous than Arsenal.
"One thing I will say, and that is that official negotiations are not ongoing.
"A good World Cup has increased interest in Montolivo, but to say that we are close to reaching an agreement is absurd."
