Napoli were never serious about signing Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
Italian agent Fabrizio Ferrari says negotiations never went further than an initial enquiry.
"There was only an enquiry, not a real deal for Fellaini," said Ferrari. "Without the Champions League (for Napoli) and the boy's injury, Napoli decided to explore other options."
Napoli signed Espanyol midfielder David Lopez yesterday.
Fellaini is currently recovering from an ankle injury.
