The Italian agent of Everton defender Johnny Heitinga has played down talk of a move to AS Roma.

The Dutchman pulled out of a switch to West Ham United this week.

"Given his contractual situation, Heitinga will be gone in January, for sure," Fabio Parisi told Radio Mana Sport.

"Roma? Sabatini has never asked about the boy - Leandro Castan and Mehdi Benatia are two central defenders of a great level.

"I don't think they'll go for him. At the moment, no Italian team has asked about Johnny, but I am sure Everton would like to get something started."
