The agent of Moises Caicedo admits Brighton were eager to sell the midfielder to Liverpool.
The Ecuador international eventually signed for Chelsea, but not before Liverpool made their attempt.
Manuel Sierra recalled to Sky Sports: "In the summer we found ourselves in a rather difficult situation. We had already given our word to Chelsea that Moises would become a Blues player, but then suddenly the option of Liverpool arose.
"For some time we were in confusion, our heads were spinning. We weren't sure what decision to make. And then the Brighton management reports that the next day Moises must undergo a medical examination in Liverpool. It was very unexpected for everyone, completely surreal.
"Brighton gave (Jurgen) Klopp consent to negotiate with Moises. But we all understood perfectly well from the very beginning that if Chelsea repeated Liverpool's offer, then Moises would go to London. I want to emphasize that Caicedo promised Chelsea to move to them. Therefore, when Liverpool made an offer, we asked the management of Brighton to wait and see if Chelsea would make the same or more impressive one."
