Agent: Bordeaux's Gourcuff rejected massive AC Milan offer

The agent of Bordeaux midfielder Yoann Gourcuff says AC Milan pushed hard to bring the Frenchman back to the San Siro this season.

The 23-year-old was on loan at Bordeaux last season albeit with a clause inserted into the deal that allowed the French club to sign him for around £13m in the summer.

"Milan focused everything on money when they tried to convince him [to return], but Yoann chose to consolidate his performances with Bordeaux. Money is not a priority," his agent Didier Poulmaire told Le Quotidien du Foot.

To reiterate his point, Poulmaire told an anecdote revealing how Gourcuff turned down €500,000 to promote a perfume.

"In December 2008, Yoann said 'no' to a company that offered him €500,000 to do a commercial. First Yoann wants to consolidate his career.

"He has important challenges ahead of him and a lot of pressure to face, and he wants to remain focused on football."
