AFC Wimbledon boss Robinson pleased with display in Arsenal defeat

AFC Wimbledon manager Mark Robinson was happy with his side's effort against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup — despite losing the game 3-0.

The League One side made a poor start to the game after giving away a penalty.

Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal the lead from the post, but Wimbledon put in a good account of themselves, eventually losing 3-0 to late goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah.

"Obviously it was a disappointing goal to give away," Robinson said post-game, per the Daily Mail.

"After that we recovered well and I think we had a really good spell for 20 minutes in the first-half where we kept the ball really, really well. We possibly didn't carry enough threat in key areas.

"It was important we came here and tried to be what we are, we want to be a possession-based side so I think it was really key we came here to be a version of ourselves and we did that."
