Freddy Adu came off the bench at half-time to make an immediate impact for Philadelphia Union on Sunday night.
The USA international made a vital interception on Chivas USA's Eddie Gaven in midfield to set up Justin Mapp for the opener and although Juan Pablo Angel later leveled for the Goats in the 1-1 draw, Adu was happy to contribute as a sub.
"It was a tough game to come into," Adu said. "When you come in at half time and the score is 0-0 and battling for points, it's a tough game.
"You got work both ways, you got to try your best to help the team going forward and defending. You always have to be tuned in.
"One of the things the coaches have been talking about is putting pressure on the ball and I was able to step in and do that."
The draw allowed the Union to move into second place on the Eastern Conference table with just three regular season matches remaining.
