Adidas have released a statement after reports of talks with Manchester United and Mason Greenwood.

It's been suggested Adidas had spoken with Greenwood and United to assure them they would not actively oppose the forward's return to the squad.

Greenwood is waiting for a final decision from United's internal review after he was cleared of assault charges earlier this year.

In a statement relayed by The Daily Star, Adidas said: "After inaccurate and speculative reporting within the media it's important for us to clarify that Adidas has had no discussions with Manchester United regarding any member of their playing squad.

"We play no role in any decisions made regarding any member of the team or staff at the club."
