Adelaide United have said they will not support calls to shorten the A-League curriculum from 30 games.

The 2010/11 season saw the number of teams jump from 10 to 11 with the inception of the Melbourne Heart, pushing the number of rounds from 27 to 30 to accommodate.

With midweek matches being amped up this term, some clubs are feeling the pinch in regard to decreasing crowd numbers with Sydney FC leading the charge for the season to be shortened.

But Reds Chairman Greg Griffin says that is ridiculous to change something because a few people have a problem with it.

"Our budgeting requires 15 home games," Griffin told the Adelaide Advertiser.

"It means our members get good value. If you make it 24 games (12 home matches), it's just crazy.

"Reducing the season because certain clubs can't fill a stadium is dumb. Adelaide United can fill a stadium and we'll lose money by not having a longer season.

"Just because Sydney FC can't get a crowd, that's not our problem.

"The FFA have got to listen to the people who are trying to develop Australian soccer," Griffin added.

"And we don't want to play a game at Adelaide Oval in between Christmas and the New Year. We want to play Melbourne Victory in the last game of the season at Adelaide Oval.

"We want it to be an annual event and we are also very happy with midweek games.

"If the other clubs don't want midweek games, then the FFA should look at playing the games here. The clubs that don't want it, we'll take the games that are not viable."
