Adelaide United's Leckie eyeing finals as perfect stage for him to shine

Mathew Leckie expects to be back in full swing for Adelaide United just in time for the A-League finals. The 20-year old is back in the fold after missing close to three months with a knee injury, playing the last three matches for the Reds, with a start in last week's 0-0 draw with Gold Coast United.

Leckie was Australian football's hottest piece of property prior to his injury but is hoping he can get back to that brilliant form when Adelaide steps into the finals in just over a week's time.

"It's bad I got injured, but I've come back at a time where there's still a bit of time in the season and I can get my fitness back," he told Australian Football Weekly.

"Hopefully it'll be a perfect stage for me to be back for the finals. It could have been a different situation; if I'd been injured a month later then I probably would have missed the finals."

Adelaide meet Melbourne Victory in their final regular season match this Friday at Hindmarsh Stadium. A win would go a long way to setting up a home final, most likely against Wellington Phoenix, whilst a loss or draw could see them taking on the Victory in week one of the finals.
